The Spiritual Life

Thanks for checking out my blog.  All posts are inspired by where my spiritual life is taking me. They are written to inspire and remind myself to apply spiritual tools to my everyday experience, but I have a feeling you will find something useful here too...

The Possibility of Growth

Many of my blog posts, other writings, and talks mention the possibility of growth being part of every experience.  No matter the experience, contained within it is the opportunity to learn more about yourself, forgive old judgments, clarify your desires, understand gratitude at a deeper level, etc., etc., etc.

I write about this frequently for two reasons.  First, it is a very powerful perspective shift, should you really establish it.  Imagine how different your life would be if, even in the face of the most difficult experience you knew...KNEW that you were growing from it, being benefited by it, and purposed yourself toward that learning and growth!

The second reason…  Well, there is a great quote from Richard Bach.  “You teach best what you most need to learn.”  And so, I will say it again.  For myself.  Feel free take this for yourself as well…

EVERY experience you have ever had and will ever have contains within it the possibility for your growth.  If you catch this idea and apply it, really apply it, it will change your life forever.  Your challenging, angering, saddening, frustrating experiences will push you up rather than drag you down.  Your ecstatic experiences will lift you even higher than they otherwise would.

This will take work.  It will take effort - sometimes a lot of effort.  It will require you to be kind, compassionate, and have patience with yourself.  It will require you to take 100% responsibility for your experience - not necessarily what happens around you, but your experience of what happens.

In this responsibility lies your freedom.  As long as you let the world outside dictate how you feel, you are choosing to be a victim of the highs and lows of everybody else.  When you claim your authority - “I get to determine what this means.  My peace is mine and nobody and nothing can take it from me,” you open the way to never again be tossed about by the tempest of the masses.

Claim your authority.  Claim your power.  Claim your responsibility.  Be steadfast in your determination to squeeze every last drop of learning, upliftment, and growth from your every experience.

I will close with an “incantation” offered up by Tony Robbins…

“Now I am the voice!
Now I Am the voice!

I will lead, not follow!
I will believe, not doubt!
I will create, not destroy!

I am a force for Good!
I am a leader!

Defy the odds!
Set a new standard!
Step up, STEP UP, STEP UP!”
